Capitalism vs Socialism

by Ken
( CO, USA)

Do somemore study on socialistic societies. They have never worked and never will. All they do is breed mediocritiy.(similiar to unions) Our nation became the greatest nation on the face of this earth because of our capitalistic tendencies. Capitalism promotes creative thinking. Capitalism is not immmune from those that are greedy. Capitalists must follow a moral compass and not allow greed to steer them. This is the one aspect of capitalism that is not perfect. It is flawed by the aspects of human nature. (one thing we cannot change) In fact there are no business systems that are faultless. I for one would rather deal with the inherent shortcomings of capitialism than the mediocrity and human destruction that socialism causes. Take a good look at some socialistic societies. There is no hope. There is much drunkenness and despair. The state holds them back from creativity and reaching their individual potentials. How would Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie and others have excelled in this environment? Were they handsomely rewarded for their efforts? You're damn right they were. But you wouldn't be enjoying your current lifestyle if they were never allowed to apply thier talents to building up this nation. Again intellectual honesty is necessary to grasp this concept.

I read a few of your articles and disagree on why we became a credit dependent nation. You maintain corporations and their greed kept most of the profits which caused workers to suffer due to little union representation. You say corporations moved off shore and outsourced their operations hurting workers.

What really caused this transition of outsourcing to other countries is a combination of many factors. We started printing more money causing inflation which ate into corporate profits, lawsuits promoted by the trial lawyers association (Strongly democratic)and their multi-million dollar awards ate into their profits, and stifuling, intrusive regulation by governmental agencies such as EPA (again strongly democratically controlled) ate into their profits until they (corporations) finally realized they would need to move their operations off shore to maintain their profit margins. If you are going to be intellectually honest with yourself you can't disagree with this.

I do agree with you every American should be able to share the wealth this country can create. But forcing socialism on freedom loving people will do nothing but destroy the spirit of this country.

I also agree we are on course to repeating the downfall of the roman empire. We just disagree 180 degrees on what caused it.

(Sorry for the typos and misspellings-didn't have time to edit)
